Probably the most innovative development attributed to iPods is the Podcast. Podcasts are shows that can be downloaded onto your computer and transferred to your iPod for maximum portability.
The coolest thing about them is that no matter what you’re interested in, there’s a Podcast for you. Do you like wine? Then check out Grape Radio’s Podcast. Do you like in-your-face conversations? Then check out The Dawn and Drew Show? Do you like movies? Then check out Hot Buttered Pop Culture.
Me? I like music, and there are plenty of Podcasts devoted to that subject. Right now, I’m enthralled with The Next Big Hit, a Podcast devoted to music so new, you can’t even find it on the Internet.
Some people say Podcasts are like the radio, but there are some significant differences.
You can’t pause the radio. You can’t fast forward through a bad song. You can’t listen to radio at any other time than when it’s on. With Podcasts, you can, and for the most part, people just like you and me with very little equipment create Podcasts.
Especially people like me, and that brings us to my big announcement. This weekend I will premiere the first Mad Mad Media Podcast.
That’s right. This weekend I will be making history by creating the first (unofficial) music Podcast associated with The Sheboygan Press.
It will feature some of my favorite acts from my personal collection, with links on the site to these artists, their bios and concert dates.
Then, on Monday, I’ll walk you though how I did it so you can make your own Podcast.
I can’t tell you what artists will be on the show, because I have been busy getting permission to use their songs (which is a pretty long process in some cases), but there will be at least five or six songs on the Podcast.So tell all of your friends to check it out. Not to toot my own horn, but this is going to be really cool!!!
