Stupid law

This weekend while shopping at the new and improved Bayshore in Milwaukee, I stopped at Trader Joe's to buy a bottle of wine.
It was late in the evening (about 8:55 p.m.) when I walked in the store. I was in the wine department for a couple of minutes, picked out an inexpensive bottle of Merlot, and went to the counter to pay for it.
I get there and the nice man behind the counter said he couldn't sell it to me. I laughed because I thought he was joking - saying I was too young.
He wasn't joking.
Apparently, and I must have been snoozing on this for a long time, but in certain parts of the state, you can't buy alcohol at the store after 9 p.m.-even two minutes after.
You can drink yourself silly at a bar until 2:30 a.m., but you can't pick up a bottle of wine on your way home from the mall.
This is just dumb.
This is the state of Wisconsin. We make alcohol here. And drink a lot of alcohol here.
I for the life of me can't understand why I can have someone serve me a beer at a tavern, but I can't buy myself beer (for much cheaper) that I would be drinking in the comfort and safety of my home.
You would think the anti drunk driving advocates would have jumped on this years ago because it would promote drinking at home, not while you're out.
This doesn't make any sense, and dangit, the law needs to be changed. It's the 21st century people!

  • Stupid Bayshore...just one more reason I don't think that "mall". It's not "new and improved," So far, every time I've been there, something's been difficult.

  • I like the concept, but there's no food court.
When I'm shopping, I need a slice from Sbarro. That's what makes shopping, shopping.
