Wailing over the Whaling Wall

Well, today construction workers tore down the Whaling Wall on the Milwaukee County Courthouse Annex to make way for improvements to the Marquette Interchange. As a former Milwaukeean, I'm going to miss the big wall, which was donated to the city by muralist Robert Wyland, much like I miss the smiley face barn on the way to Madison.
But, that highway really needs to be fixed up, and the painting had lost it's lustre after years of staining from exhaust fumes and dirt.
So, goodbye Whaling Wall.
