MMMTV: The Anti-Britneys

While Britney, Christina and Justin & Co. pretty much dominated the music charts at the turn of the century, a new movement came about to knock them each down a notch. Though they weren't connected in any way, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch became known as the Anti-Britneys. For the record companies, it was brilliant example of counterprograming. For casual music listeners, these pop princesses were a breath of fresh air.
