Red Hot Controversy

Dig the new Red Hot Chili Pepper’s song “Dani California?” A lot of people do, but a Delaware Radio station is saying there may be another reason for it’s mass appeal, besides it being a rocking song.
Producer Jared Morris of WGMD Radio in Delmarva, DE, posted a Podcast on the Internet to show “Dani California” is incredibly similar to Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” I’ll be honest, the first time I heard about this, I thought it was ridiculous, but after hearing his Podcast, the similarities are undeniable. (Though it does sound like they played both songs at different speeds to help prove their point).Check it out by clicking HERE and listen to the comparison. Then, come on back and tell us what you think.

  • I don't think Petty will sue. If anything, it will renew interest in his song, which will make him more money in the long run and less for his lawyers.
Plus, there are enough differences that make it a different song, especially the awesome guitar solo at the end.
There are only so many guitar chords. After 50 years of rock music, there are going to be some similarities and repeats.
You had to bring up Vanilla Ice didn't you. Just when I start making some headway on forgetting about that guy, he keeps coming back.
Nobody every brings up Ray Parker's Ghostbuster's Theme which was a direct ripoff of Huey Lewis and the News' I Want A New Drug.
So how are you dealing without AI?

  • Hey did you hear that rumor about Taylor and Katharine. Some tabloid said they're an item. It's good to be the king.
