Films this weekend

Looking for a movie to see this weekend? We have four opening up in the area.
"Benchwarmers" a little league comedy starring David Spade and Jon Heder (rated PG-13), the dancing drama "Take the Lead" starring Antonio Banderas-who is also hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend (PG-13) , "Lucky Number Slevin" - a case of mistaken identity starring Lucy Liu and Josh Hartnet (Rated R), and "Phat Girlz" a plus-sized comedy starring Monique 'Mo'Nique' Imes.
All four are playing at the Sheboygan Marcus Theater.
And if you venture out to see any of these films, log onto Mad Mad Media and let us know what you think about them.

  • Eric, now you owe me a comment... Bob Farina said that Phat Girlz (did I spell that right?) wasn't even available for review; and that only happens when the filmmakers know it's so bad it couldn't possibly get anything raving (recent ones that come to mind are that "Justin and Kelly" movie, "Underworld 2"). Why don't YOU go see it and prove that theory wrong???

  • I'll be honest, I have no interest in seeing Phat Girlz. But you are right, no preview usually means it's no good.

  • There's a review of Phat Girlz in today's Journal; Sue Pierman gives it two stars. Says it could have had possibilities. It would not be on the top of my list to see.
